Atari Breakout Unblocked

by Atari

Atari Breakout uses keyboard or mouse controls. It plays best on a Chromebook, laptop or desktop.

Atari Breakout unblocked brings back one of arcade gaming's true classics: a paddle, a bouncing ball and a wall of bricks waiting to be destroyed. This version adds several modes that shake up the original formula in clever ways. Load it on Classroom 7x, slide your paddle into place and do whatever it takes to keep that ball in play.

About Atari Breakout

Atari first released Breakout in 1976, and the core idea has barely needed to change since. A ball travels across the screen, bouncing off the top and both side walls, and you move a paddle along the bottom to send it back up into rows of bricks. Each brick you hit breaks apart and disappears. Miss the ball and it drops right past you, so every single rebound is a small test of positioning, focus and quick reactions.

What sets this version of Atari Breakout apart is its choice of modes. Double hands you control of two paddles at the same time, which sounds easier until you realize there is twice as much to keep track of. Cavity also gives you two paddles but starts with only one ball, while extra balls sit trapped inside the wall waiting to be freed. Progressive is the most stressful option of all, since the entire wall creeps downward step by step.

How to Play Atari Breakout

  1. Pick a mode from the menu, such as Double, Cavity or Progressive, to choose your challenge.
  2. Move the paddle left and right with the mouse or keyboard to stay underneath the ball.
  3. Bounce the ball up into the bricks to break them one by one and clear the wall.
  4. Keep the ball from falling past the bottom of the screen, because missing it costs you.
  5. In Cavity mode, break through the bricks holding the extra balls to set them free and add them to play.

Tips and Tricks

  • Hit the ball with the edges of your paddle to change its angle. Sharper shots help you reach bricks that straight bounces keep missing.
  • Break a tunnel up one side of the wall. Once the ball slips above the bricks, it can bounce around on top and clear many of them at once.
  • In Double mode, keep your eyes on the ball rather than the paddles. Since you control both together, tracking the ball tells you where they need to be.
  • In Progressive mode, clear the lowest rows first. The wall keeps stepping down, so the bottom layers become the most urgent threat.
  • Free the trapped balls in Cavity mode early. More balls in play means more bricks broken, as long as you can keep at least one of them alive.

Atari Breakout FAQ

What are the different modes in Atari Breakout?

This version offers Double, Cavity and Progressive. Double gives you two paddles at once, Cavity starts with one ball while extra balls are locked inside the wall, and Progressive slowly pushes the whole brick wall down toward you.

How do you free the balls in Cavity mode?

The extra balls are sealed inside walls within the brick layout. Break the bricks surrounding them with your main ball, and once a gap opens up they are released into play, giving you more ways to smash through what remains.

When was the original Breakout released?

Atari launched Breakout as an arcade game in 1976. Its paddle-and-ball design went on to inspire countless brick-breaking games, and this browser version keeps the same basic idea while adding extra modes.

Can I play Atari Breakout on a school Chromebook?

Yes. Atari Breakout runs in the Chrome browser on Chromebooks, Windows PCs and Macs with nothing to install. It is designed for a keyboard and mouse, so it plays best on a computer rather than a phone.

Is Atari Breakout free to play?

Yes, Atari Breakout is completely free on Classroom 7x. There is no download, no account and no sign-up. Press Play and the game loads right on this page.
